Taste of Autumn

Celebrate the sensational sights, sounds and tastes of the season at our popular Taste of Autumn event 

Where? RHS Wisley, Wisley Lane, Wisley, Woking GU23 6QB

When? 17th - 21st October - 9:30am-5pm daily

What’s happening?  More than 30 stalls celebrating local harvest and artisan food and drink, many offering samples or tastings.

Expert displays and advice- Surrey Bees Society, National Vegetable Society, National Allotment Society and the RHS Seed Team will be present with fabulous displays, information and advice for grow your own beginners and more experienced growers

Talk Theatre - Check out the programme for the Talk Theatre where many of our stallholders will be talking about their produce, including Surrey Bees, Silent Pool gin and many more.

Garden Walks- Walks through the Garden, which will be dressed in autumn colours. Look out for Wisley’s famous Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Wisley King’ on Seven Acres.

What’s happening?  This October, experience a traditional Oktoberfest as Guildford as Oktoberfest Guildford Returns at Stoke Park, Northside again for a weekend of traditional Bavarian bash with our authentic Oktoberfest steins! Top up your stein and step inside the huge Bier tent and prepare to be entertained - Bavarian style!

From traditional folk to ‘Oompop’ expect foot stomping, dancing and hearty singing galore. Grab some traditional German grub from the outdoor food court as you raise your steins at Oktoberfest Guildford!

Room on the broom

Woosh! Join us this half-term for a garden adventure with room on the broom.

Where? RHS Wisley, Wisley Lane, Wisley, Woking GU23 6QB

When? Half term week 20th – 28th October

What’s happening? Join us at RHS Garden Wisley this October half term for an adventure with Room on the Broom,  written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

Lots of different animals want a ride on the witch’s broomstick – can you help her find them hiding around the garden on the special Room on the Broom Adventure Trail?  We have creepy crafts, fun activities and storytelling too! Activities take place from Saturday 20 October to Sunday 28 October   Family activities are held in the Clore Learning Centre from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm, unless specified.

Activities for the kids at Wisley:

Big Draw event

Have a go at some lively and colourful art-making for your hands and feet. Artist Diana Burch will be leading this Big Draw event.

Where? Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Millbrook, Guildford GU1 3UX.

When? 20th October

What’s happening? Taking this year's national Big Draw theme 'Play' as a starting point, artists will be providing free, accessible, high quality and creative activities across the borough during October.

Workshops are designed to let participants explore new and a creative ideas and cater for those who love arts and crafts and for those who do not but are willing to give it a go!

Anyone can join in and participants can work individually or collectively as a group. There is no limit to how many free Big Draw activities people can take part in so why not come along and join in this year's festival, which is all about letting loose, embracing happy accidents, discovery, and most importantly having fun through drawing in all its forms!

 Spooky Train Ride & Storytelling!

When? 23rd October 11.30 & 2.30

Where? Denbies Wine Estate, London Road, Dorking, Surrey RH5 6AA

What’s happening?  Dress-up in your best spooky costume for a vineyard train ride and story telling 

£7.50 per child which includes a chocolate treat / £3 per adult which includes a hot drink 

Taking place on the outdoor Vineyard Train, warm clothing recommended









English Cheese & Wine Tasting

When? 28th October

Where? Albury Vineyard Silent Pool, Shere Road, Albury, Surrey GU5 9BW

What’s happening?  Visit the vineyard for a tasting of our Albury Estate sparkling wines followed by a selection of English cheese.

Our cosy vineyard barn is the perfect retreat in which to relax on a chilly afternoon. Let our friendly team take you through a tasting of our three award-winning sparkling wines, as well as a 'guest' English wine. Once you've decided on a favourite, sit back with a glass of your choice accompanied by a selection of English cheese.

Admire views from the barn over the vineyard, or venture outside for a walk amongst the vines; we have a new self-guided tour of the vineyard that's free to enjoy and a great way to find out more about us. We suggest you allow 45 minutes for the self-guided tour either before or after your tasting.

Guildford Ghost Walk

When? Friday 26th and Wednesday 31st October

Where? Meet on Steps outside Holy Trinity Church, High Street, Guildford, GU1 3RR

What’s happening? Everyone loves a good ghost story, so why not join in an eerie ghost walk through the streets of Guildford  and creep through the narrow alleyways and hidden courtyards on Wednesday 31st - we dare you!


Tours run whatever the weather and there is no need to book. Suitable for ages from 8 to 120, but not beyond.
